In this concert I am playing music by Inge Ettema, a young composer from the Netherlands, who started to write for marimba when she was 12 years old. Also presenting a beatiful piece composed by Nancy Zeltsman, a famous marimba player, who set the standard worldwide for musical marimba playing. Speelt samen met
Some wonderful players support me: Rachel Zhang and Maripepa Contreras and Special Guest from Okinawa Kenshiro Sato and marimba recitalist the delicate virtuoso Yu Hagihara. And ofcourse Inge Ettema is playing her own compositions for Marimba. Maripepa Contreras is a oboist and composer and is definitely "something else" in the best possible way: Spanish roots, classicly trained, with a jazz-education and with a passion for Brazilian music. Her warm loving sounds with blend together with the sound of the marimba.
