No Man is an Island

Dokwerk Saxophone Quartet

In the hustle and bustle of modern life, we are constantly drawn outward—toward expectations and the noise of the world. But within each of us lies an island, a quiet place where time slows down, and one can simply be. This island is not about escape, but about return—a space to reconnect with who we are.

Yet loneliness can be unsettling, and we often grasp for distractions out of fear of what silence might reveal. The island we long for is also the island we fear, a place where we must confront the emptiness and uncertainty we usually avoid.

Surrounded by the vast ocean of life, this island offers silence and shelter. And yet the ocean that isolates us is the ocean that connects us to all things, reminding us that we are all woven into the fabric of existence.
