The journey to this album has seen many detours, off-road adventures, and countless highway miles. Along the way, unwritten rules and formalities have been tossed out the window, and an idea has been developed with boundless inspiration from the music culture. All the music Barry and Ties have (co-)created, from the streets to the concert hall, comes together on NEW UNIVERSE.

Unconsciously and entirely naturally, music from diverse backgrounds emerged, and as a result, it has become unstoppable. On NEW UNIVERSE, you hear different genres coming together, reinforcing each other and complementing one another. You hear a Latin bass fitting seamlessly under a Reichian minimal pattern, with a weightless romantic melody above (LLKKRR); a funky groove over which expressive melodies blend into a big band (SCHIJF VAN VIJF); or an African beat emerging from a web of minimal patterns and culminating in a gospel-like apotheosis (SPIVA). NEW UNIVERSE is a fusion that offers enthusiasts of jazz, classical, dance, Latin, and African music a new universe to enjoy more of each other.

PEAX transcends styles and is more than classical, jazz, or electronic music. PEAX makes music weightless in NU (meaning: 'now'). PEAX aims to inspire people to listen to each other more and enjoy each other more. PEAX doesn't say it has to be this way but that it can also be like this.

Member concert
Splendor can only be the independent and free hub that it is, thanks to the members who support us. We pay them back with our specialty: music. Every year, all Splendor musicians play one concert that's free for this crucial group to whom Splendor owes its everyday existence. Combined with many other events, this means that our members have free entrance to about 80 concerts a year for €9,99 p/m (and €4,99 p/m for minima and students!) – and receive a discount for all other concerts. Pretty good deal, right?

The members enable Splendor to remain independent, which is the only way to secure real freedom in programming, experimentation, risk-taking and the promotion of young, upcoming artists. If you can think of another place without a central programming, where last-minute concerts can be planned any moment, where there is no backstage and artists and audience are constantly mingling and hanging out at the bar, where mysterious creative outbursts can be presented that are often labeled 'too risky' elsewhere, and that still guarantees high quality by unleashing the best of The Netherlands' music scene in this creative playground – you get a free membership!
