Frances-Marie Uitti presents:

Where Angels Fear to Tread

Barrett / Zarić / Uitti

Two audacious pioneers from the improvisation scene, Richard Barrett composer and Milana Zarić harpist join forces with F M Uitti in a concert that challenges the angelic conception of heavenly harpists and siren cellists. Beware!

Richard Barrett - electronics,
Milana Zarić - harp, electronics, voice,
F M Uitti - cellos, voice

Equally active in classical, composed, experimental and freely improvised music, harpist Milana Zarić connects creative performance with contemporary sensibility and new technologies. She has been the principal harpist of Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra since 2005 and has commissioned and premiered over 30 solo and ensemble works.
One of her most active duets features harp and electronics, with Richard Barrett. They have been performing together worldwide since 2013, playing their own composed works as well as collaborating with individual musicians and ensembles.

Richard Barrett (Swansea, 1959) is equally active as composer and performer, as well as teaching at the Institute of Sonology in Den Haag. He is also Professor of Creative Music Research at the University of Leiden. His work encompasses a range from free improvisation to intricately-notated scores, and from acoustic chamber music to innovative uses of digital technology. His principal composition teacher was Peter Wiegold. He has published two books, Music of Possibility (2019) and Transforming Moments (2023). Richard Barrett on soundcloud.
