Van Salon tot Cabaret

In our program “from Salon to Cabaret” we will perform some highlights, as well as some hidden gems of these two theatrical and musical genres.
We will start the recital with both songs and piano solo music, originated in the salon of the famous singer Pauline Viardot, who in the 19th century was a very influential person in the artistic environment of Paris and far beyond. Writer George Sand among others, as well as composers Berioz, Rossini, Clara Schumann and Chopin all belonged to her inner circle. In this year, 2021, it has been 200 years ago that Pauline Viardot was born.
Then we will continue our program with literary cabaret style songs by Arnord Schönberg, Kurt Weill and Benjamin Britten. Different forms and expressions of humour will be brought to life, as well as social reflections on the place and time of emerge.
