CoMA - Contemporary Music for All
Presentation Concert: Contemporary Music Workshop for Amateur Musicians, led by Lucas Vis
New notes for curious ears.
What is CoMA? Contemporary Music for All. Originally founded in the UK, CoMA is unique for its “open-score” approach: composers write four-part pieces that can be performed by almost any combination of instruments. It may take some getting used to, but it creates exciting and unexpected combinations and sound worlds. CoMA’dam will present several new works by Dutch and British composers.
CoMA’dam is led by conductor Lucas Vis, a renowned specialist in contemporary music. Throughout his distinguished career, Lucas conducted across Europe, became particularly known for his interpretations of Stockhausen, worked with nearly all major Dutch orchestras, and concluded his career as a professor at the Amsterdam Conservatory.
Curious about discovering new sounds and new music? Come and listen!
“I love experiencing this live. I had no idea music like this even existed!”
CoMA’dam, conducted by Lucas Vis.
Special guest performers are Splendor musicians Peter Prommel and Antonii Baryshevskyi.
Peter is fascinated by sound itself and will surprise us with an experiment inspired by Terry Riley’s modern classic In C. Antonii, a Ukrainian virtuoso pianist and composer, will perform the world premiere of his new composition, To Stop to Stop, for harpsichord.
