Estuarium - Album release (AudioMaze sessions)
The debut album by the Oriol Marès & Talal Fayad Quartet weaves Arabic, Latin, and jazz influences into nine original compositions. Joined by Andalusian percussionist Lucas Zegrí and Greek double bassist Thodoris Ziarkas, the quartet creates a unified musical language rooted in each member’s diverse background. Their sound is a continuous evolution—an organic dialogue blending Arabic modal traditions, Latin polyrhythms, and jazz improvisation.
While each musician maintains a distinct identity, the group seeks common ground, resulting in a music that bridges traditions and celebrates individuality. The quartet’s approach is both personal and collaborative, offering a fresh take on intercultural fusion.
The project was born in Utrecht through Culture Shock, and has since appeared at renowned festivals including the Grachtenfestival and the International Chamber Music Festival Utrecht. Their work has been featured on Dutch national radio NPO2 and Catalunya Música.
Oriol Marès, a clarinetist and composer from Barcelona, draws from jazz and Latin roots, while Syrian oud player and composer Talal Fayad brings the rich tradition of Arabic music. Their shared vision draws inspiration from artists such as Anouar Brahem and Paquito D’Rivera.
The quartet’s debut album was developed during an international residency at La Marfà in Girona (September 2024), and premiered at the Fira Mediterrània showcase in Manresa. In 2025, they embark on a release tour across Spain, Italy, and the Netherlands. Upcoming projects include a new residency and performance at the Centre National de Création Musicale (VOCE, Corsica), as part of the Rawabet program by Ettijahat.

TREVOR WATTS' ETERNAL TRIANGLE
Contemporary Global Jazz
Eternal Triangle is a powerful and heartfelt project led by legendary British saxophonist Trevor Watts, who recently turned 85. Rooted in complex rhythmic traditions from Africa and South America, and infused with harmonic and melodic elements from jazz and European classical music, this trio explores contemporary global jazz with depth, vitality, and honesty.
Watts, a pioneer of European free improvisation, emerged in the 1960s and '70s alongside many of the era’s great innovators. Over the decades, he has continued to push musical boundaries—more recently by collaborating with African and South American drummers around the world.
Keyboardist Veryan Weston, a long-time creative partner, brings a strikingly original voice to the trio. As described by All About Jazz:
“Veryan Weston is one of the most creative musicians in recent times—or perhaps ancient times would be more accurate. He conjures brilliant, powerful, and magical sonic potions like a medieval apothecary, crafting musical scores in the moment where time and space collide.” — Raul d’Gama Rose, 2012
Completing the trio is Jamie Harris on congas and darrabukka, adding dynamic, polyrhythmic textures that drive the group’s rich global sound.
