Jihye Kim, Oene van Geel & Friends
Splendor – Seoul – Batavierenhuis
Jihye Kim plays traditional Korean percussion and tours the world with various ensembles. She has been playing with Oene van Geel for many years, including a two-week tour in Korea last year, and now she comes to Europe from Seoul and plays with Oene and musician friends in Amsterdam and Rotterdam.
Oene: 'Loek van den Berg participates on sax, as 'Batavier' we have a nice connection between Splendor and the Batavierenhuis in Rotterdam. Loek also recently won an Edison Jazz Award for his album 'Wayfarer'. On bass we have Matteo Mazzu, one of the great new and in-demand bass talents in the jazz scene. And last but not least we have Luca Warmer, a fantastic vocalist who can also recite her poems beautifully. Each of us will provide compositions with a lot of freedom to sculpt the moment together. From my perspective I can only say: I'm really looking forward to this!'
